Lead Testing – £90 inc VAT
As of March 1, 2024, all landlords in Scotland must ensure that the water supply in their private rental properties is free of lead.
- No lead pipes, fittings, or tanks: There can be no lead pipes, fittings, or tanks in the drinking water supply
- Inform tenants: Landlords must inform tenants that there could be lead in their water
- Water sample analysis: Landlords must have a water sample taken for laboratory analysis. The water should be tested from the cold water tap, which is where water is most frequently used for human consumption
The new regulation is part of an update to the Repairing Standard, which governs repair requirements for landlords in Scotland.
Symptoms of lead poisoning in adults include:
- High blood pressure
- Abdominal pain
- Constipation
- Joint and muscle pain
- Pain, numbness, or tingling of the extremities
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Memory loss
