The Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 is the main legislation for landlords in Scotland. From 1st December 2015 landlords are required under sections 13(4A) and 19B(4) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 to:
• Ensure that regular electrical safety inspections are carried out by a competent person
• Have regard to the guidance issued by Scottish Ministers on electrical safety standards and competent persons
• A periodic inspection of the electrical installations, fixtures and fittings
